LG Makeup – 10th Anniversary Party – Lucy Gourlay – Caledonian Hotel

I’ve always admired people who stay at the top of their game for many years in this industry. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication and real drive to build a successful wedding business, and even more to stay there once you’ve reached the top.

So I was delighted when Lucy Gourlay of LG Makeup asked Yvonne & I to come along to her 10th Anniversary party at The Waldorf Astoria Caledonian Hotel.

Naturally I took along a camera and grabbed a few shots of the night (in between the glasses of champagne and too many slices of Heather’s cake!) , and the result is below.

I know Lucy wanted to thank everyone who came, but there are also a few extra special mentions too for helping out on the night:

Sarah Elizabeth Photography
Planet Flowers
Heathers Cakes
Twenty-Seven.co.uk Stationery
Robin Stewart Hospitality
Jane Iredale
and us

So, thanks again Lucy for inviting us, it was a great night and a pleasure to be there to help celebrate your achievement. Here’s to the next 10 years! Congratulations!

Steve

Happy Valentines Day – Jen & Johnnie – Fairmont St Andrews

Well it’s the day of the year when we tell our loved ones how much they mean to us… So it seemed mighty appropriate that I share this lovely Highlights film from Jen & Johnnie Beattie’s Wedding at Fairmont St Andrews.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a bride smile as much as Jen did the whole day long and I must admit to being a little starstruck with some of the top Scottish Rugby players strutting their stuff on the dancefloor:)[although my son, Callum, did tell me off me for not getting autographs haha] Oh and golf carts, how can you not have a hoot in a golf cart 😉

I think the balance between romance and fun is pretty darned perfect in the highlights film, and do hope that it reflects the wedding day… a blend of true love and laughter, plus some of the best dancing I’ve seen for ages!

Enjoy! Have a fab day, and when you’ve watched the film, go tell that special person how much they mean to you!!

Valentines Day – Tiffeny & Andrew – Fasque House Wedding Film

The very best thing about Humanist ceremonies is that the couple get to write their own vows, and tell each other in their own words what they mean to each other. Tiffeny & Andrew’s Highlights film from their awesome wedding at Fasque House shows just how wonderful such ceremonies can be, and how great they are in helping to tell a Wedding Story.

One thing is very clear, Tiffeny & Andrew are very much in love!

I hope you’re having a fab Valentines Day!

Enjoy

Balmoral Hotel – Wedding Trailer – Kathryn & James

One of the best things we get to do is to film the weddings of more than one family member, as that really says something about the quality of the wedding films we produce.  When a sister or brother of a previous couple ask us to film their day, it’s a real privilege.

So it was brilliant news when we were asked to film James & Kathryn’s Wedding, some 5 years after Kathryn’s sisters wedding (Allison & Phillip in 2008).

The wedding was on a beautiful crisp Winter’s day in Edinburgh, with the ceremony at St Mary’s Cathedral and a reception at the Balmoral Hotel. It was great to see so many familiar faces from years ago and great to catch up with the family again after all these years (including some new additions). A superb time was had by all (including us!).

This is just a trailer for the full film, but there’s quite a few moments I’m looking forward to expanding on in the main film…one of which being the guys code names for each other (hilarious!) and I’m pleased to say “the package” was indeed delivered safely, and on time 😉

Enjoy the trailer, the final reading about ‘love’ was by Kathryn’s sister Allison.  Some lovely words and sentiments in there, do listen carefully:)

Enjoy.

Lois & Matthew – We Fell In Love Wedding Trailer

We were pleased to have been asked to provide the Wedding Film for the We Fell In Love (Scotland’s Wedding Blog) Fairytale Wedding competition, and even more pleased when we found out that Lois & Matthew had won!  (They got a seriously mahoosive amount of votes!)

They just stood out for us as the most deserving and most genuine couple going in the competition, and Yvonne & I were so excited to film their truly fairytale day!

You can read all about the build up to the wedding over at the WFIL Blog, but for now here’s a chance to see their wedding trailer:)

Their full film is going to be a proper cracker, and I can’t wait to share that with you in the next couple of months.

Lois & Matthew, thank you for being such a lovely couple, it’s been great getting to know you and we’re delighted to have been part of your awesome day!

Happy New Year – Here’s to 2014! [Glentanar Ballroom Wedding Film]

As the year draws to a close, I just wanted to thank everyone that has helped to make this an amazing year. To all our friends in the Wedding Industry, thanks for your support and all the fun we’ve had along the way while doing what we love best. To Stu and Robbie for all their hard work, laughter and verbal abuse. To Yvonne for being the most awesome person in the world – the most organised, supportive and caring person you’re ever likely to meet. Most of all though, we have to say thank you to all of our wonderful couples, for choosing us in the first place, for placing your trust in us, and for being patient in waiting for the film to finally arrive. Thank you, it’s been great getting to know you over the past year!

I’ll close the year with a quick Trailer from one of our rather lovely December weddings – Susie and Ben at Glentanar Ballroom. They included this song in their list of music for the full film, so I just HAD to use it for their Winter Wedding Trailer. A beautiful winter’s day that was full of fun, and some beautifully self-penned wedding vows too, oh and Susie & Ben’s road signs were so well thought out, all the way from Aboyne…brilliant! Congratulations you two!:)

So, here’s to a truly epic 2014!

Happy New Year everyone!

Wedding Highlights – Katie & Neil – Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh

Just before 2013 comes to a close I wanted to share a couple of films from earlier in the year that haven’t been featured on the blog before.

Today it’s Katie & Neil’s Wedding at The Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh.

I think this film encompasses a lot of what we try and do with our films, to create an individual wedding story that gives the viewer a real sense of the couples personalities, a film that’s emotional yet also a whole heap of fun.:)

I think we achieved that in spades here.

Enjoy.

Wedding Trailer – Emma & Alan – Solsgirth House

Emma & Alan’s Wedding was, well….good fun.  I seem to say that quite a lot and I promise that we do work hard, but it’s good to have fun too! (I think it brings out the best in us that way).  We’ve been getting to know Emma & Alan over the coming months and realised that they just wanted to have a fun wedding day, and to share it with family and friends.  They did that in spades:)

One of the best things about filming weddings is watching the day build, and being able to film the two sides of the story from the bride and groom preparations.  This is only a short trailer of the wedding, but I know there’s a great story to tell in the main Wedding Film…

Emma & Alan also had the very good sense to choose Planet Flowers to create some utterly beautiful flower designs, and to have their stationery for the day created by the wonderfully talented Emma from Twenty Seven Stationery.  Oh and of course, they chose us too 😉

So here’s their trailer.  Enjoy!

Wedding Trailer – Chris & Lyndsay – Craigsanquhar House

Rain and Mist. Does that sound like a ‘perfect’ wedding day?

Well do you know what? With the right people around you, a stunning venue, two people who love each other immensely and a great photographer/filmmaker team… yes it is!

Here’s Chris & Lyndsay’s Trailer for their recent wedding at Craigsanquhar House near Cupar. It was beautifully styled with a vintage theme, complete with personally sourced pretty little teacups and saucers (that must have taken some serious collecting skills!) oh and amongst lots of other things, a rather cool typewriter (sorry I couldn’t resist hijacking it for the opening shot!)

Also the dress… oh my word the dress… a stunning creation by Jenny Packham.

So, that rain and mist though provided a rather awesome backdrop and atmosphere for the film and photographs.

On a wedding photography note, it was brilliant to work with Zoe (Barrie) and Zoe (Campbell) from Photos by Zoe. They totally “get” what we do and we had rather too much fun.  Thank you ladies!

Without further ado, here’s Chris & Lyndsay’s pretty darned perfect wedding day:)

THANK YOU MERCI GRAZIE DANKE ARIGATO SHUKRIYA – VOWS AWARDS 2013

WOW.  Again… WOW!

A massive thank you to all of our truly fabulous couples for voting for us again in the Scottish Wedding Awards – The VOWS Awards 2013.

We’re absolutely chuffed to bits to have been nominated again.

We work our socks off to make sure everything we do is the very best it can be, but not only that we just love getting to know our couples in the process.  Only then can we get things just perfect for each couple.  So it’s so rewarding to see that our couples appreciate what we do and take the time and effort to vote for us in these awards.  Really chuffed.

So, thanks again everyone, we really appreciate it.

Fingers crossed for the Awards event on 25th November.  Very much looking forward to seeing all our friends in the Wedding Industry and have a good old party:)

Woop!

Wedding Trailer – Ryan & Louise – Marcliffe at Pitfodels Aberdeen

There’s nothing better than celebrating a wedding with family, and that was made even more special for Ryan and Louise who also celebrated their special day with the gorgeous daughter Abi as flowergirl.

Ryan and Louise had carefully planned every detail of this brilliant day, and even managed to organise some sunshine for their ceremony at Kings College Chapel and reception at The Marcliffe in Aberdeen. Lots of little details stand out for me, but keeping the note Ryan wrote when he proposed to Louise at Gleneagles in 2012 was just lovely.  So thoughtful (and great to use for a ring shot!).

From the sunny drinks reception on the lawn to the great dinnertime entertainment from the singer Cole Page, the guests also had a ball.  Not only did the guests have fun but so did we.  Ryan and Louise made Robbie and I feel so welcome, and I must say the Marcliffe were really helpful on the day too, much appreciated!

Couple all of this with some fabulously heartfelt speeches and I know this film is going to be special.  For now though, enjoy this little teaser of what’s to come.

Wedding Trailer – Julie & Keith – Fyvie Castle and Meldrum House Aberdeen

Julie & Keith’s wedding was a double pleasure as not only was it a beautifully sunny day for filming a wedding in Aberdeen, but it was great to see Kevin & Victoria again (her Brother & Sister-in-law) having filmed their wedding last year too.

Julie & Keith’s ceremony was held at the stunning Fyvie Castle followed by a reception and a pretty great party at Meldrum House.  So much fun and the Trailer certainly packs lots of it in:)

Good to see Simon of Simon Clubb Photography again too.  Good laugh as ever:)

On this dreich Autumn day (today in Edinburgh at least)… enjoy seeing some lovely Aberdeen wedding sunshine!

John & Sarah – Dunkeld Cathedral & Hilton – Wedding Trailer

Robbie & I had a fabulous day in Dunkeld.  From the wonderfully warm welcome we got that morning, until the final farewell once the dancing was well under way, we had fun!

I think the weather definitely played a small part, with John & Sarah being blessed with a stunning day in Perthshire.  The main reason however was the infectious smiles from John & Sarah themselves.  Not only are they very much in love, but they enjoyed every single second of the day.  A day to share with family & friends.  It was also lovely to hear both John AND Sarah take part in the speeches.  It’s not often that the bride performs a speech, but I know Sarah really wanted to say her own thank you’s, and of course tell John how much he means to her.

The full film is going to be a belter…but for now hopefully this Trailer will whet your appetite for what’s to come.

Katie & Neil – Wedding Trailer – Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh

Here’s a lovely little trailer for Katie & Neil’s Wedding at the stunning Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh.

Katie & Neil’s wedding brought them back to Edinburgh from the bright lights of New York to spend a fab day with their close family and friends and celebrating not only their wedding day, but their future.  Their wedding vows were just so genuine and heartfelt, and Neil’s speech was wonderful as he’d obviously spent a long time considering the real importance of the wedding and how their marriage will shape their future together.  I can’t wait to use some more soundbites to tell their  brilliant (and funny) story in the full and highlights films (more of that in future blog posts no doubt!)

For now, sit back and enjoy their Wedding Trailer.

PS: In the trailer you can catch a couple of glimpses of floral magic from the Team at Planet Flowers, plus it was great to work with Dom again from Duke Photography.
